Sakurajima Seaside Hotel

The hotel’s pride and joy is its lineup of baths: a mixed-gender open-air bath with the sea spread out right in front of you, separate indoor and open-air baths for men and women, and even a free private bath. From the open-air baths, enjoy sweeping views of Kinko Bay and Taisho Lava—if you’re lucky, you might even spot a pod of dolphins offshore. Soaking with ocean views by day and a starry sky at night is sure to feel wonderfully freeing. Day-use hot springs cost 500 yen per person and are available from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

All 20 guest rooms feature ocean views of Kinko Bay, with vistas of the Osumi Peninsula and Satsuma Peninsula—and on clear days, even Mt. Kaimon. Dinner is served in your room, so you can take your time enjoying local Kagoshima specialties such as kibinago (silver-stripe round herring) sashimi and tonkotsu.
