Inn by the Canal Otaru FURUKAWA
A nostalgic hot-spring hotel near the Otaru Canal, with thoughtful hospitality you'll appreciate.
A hot-spring hotel with the nostalgic charm of a long-established ryokan, easy to spot as you walk from JR Otaru Station toward the canal. Right next door is the Otaru Art Base Stained Glass Museum, making it an ideal base for sightseeing around Otaru.
With hospitality centered on comfort, checkout is a generous 12:00 pm—longer than many accommodations. In the annex “Hikari Lounge,” which also has a smoking room, complimentary hot coffee is available anytime from 6:00 am–12:00 am, and you’re welcome to take it anywhere in the hotel as you relax. They also offer free loans of travel-friendly amenities and books—small touches you’ll be glad to have.
Rooms come in canal-side or city-side options, with a wide range of styles from Japanese rooms to Japanese-Western and Western rooms. Every room features a Japanese-modern design with the warmth of wood, creating a relaxing space.
The large public baths are “Ichi-no-Yu” and “Ni-no-Yu,” with men’s and women’s baths switching between morning and night. Ichi-no-Yu features an indoor bath made with Otaru soft stone, creating an atmosphere that feels like being inside a traditional storehouse. Ni-no-Yu includes a hinoki cypress open-air bath and other wood-accented features. Try both and compare the different bathing experiences.
