Asamushi Onsen
One of Tohoku’s top hot spring resorts, where you can enjoy hot springs and marine activities.
A hot spring area along the coast of the Natsudomari Peninsula, said to have over 1,200 years of history. It’s easily accessible in Approx. 30 minutes by car or train from Aomori Station. Get off at the nearest station, “Asamushi-Onsen” Station, and an atmospheric hot spring town opens up right away. The east side of the station is a retro hot spring town, while the west side is a seaside beach resort, where you can also enjoy marine activities along with the hot springs.
On the east side hot spring town, traditional hot spring inns and diners line the streets, and it’s fun to wander through the charming townscape. There are also free footbaths you can enjoy in front of the station and at “Asamushi Gensen Park.” Along the west-side shoreline, you’ll find plenty of ocean activities such as SUP, banana boats, and kayaking. Hot spring inns are also scattered along the coast, and places where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets over Mutsu Bay from guest rooms or open-air baths are especially popular.
Asamushi Onsen’s water is colorless, clear, and odorless, with a gentle feel on the skin. It’s said to help with neuralgia, rheumatism, and lower back pain, and its moisturizing power also makes it popular for skincare benefits.
