Yuasa Umaimon Gura
Soy sauce, kanayama-ji miso, shirasu, and more-come here for Yuasa specialties and local gourmet picks.
Located close to Yuasa’s “Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings,” this is a spot where you can find both souvenirs and local specialty gourmet foods.
On the first-floor sales area, they’ve selected many products nurtured by Wakayama’s nature, such as Yuasa specialties like soy sauce and kanayama-ji miso, as well as umeboshi and mandarins. Depending on the season, they also carry exceptionally fresh shirasu (whitebait), with a lineup of items that make great gifts and are delicious to receive.
The second-floor dining area is popular for its local-feel menu. The recommended dish is their Gura Ramen made with richly flavored Yuasa soy sauce. The classic shirasu rice bowl is also a favorite. In pleasant seasons, enjoy a comfortable time at the terrace seats with a wonderful view.
