Tsukaen Park
A must-visit cherry blossom spot in spring! Experience the beauty of all four seasons at Tsukaen Park.
Tsukaen Park in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, is a beautiful park where lush nature and history come together. It was once the site of a villa belonging to the 11th lord of the Tsu Domain. The garden, which makes full use of the area’s natural terrain, offers beautiful scenery in every season.
In spring, Approx. 1,000 Somei Yoshino cherry trees and Approx. 800 purple azaleas bloom in full, filling the entire park with pink and purple flowers. During the “Tsukaen Park Spring Festival,” held from late March to mid-April, the park is also illuminated, letting you enjoy cherry blossoms at night in a dreamlike atmosphere created by the glow of bonbori and lanterns. At the same time, teahouses and food stalls offering light snacks, drinks, and local foods set up inside the park, drawing crowds of flower-viewing visitors. The scene truly feels like a classic symbol of spring in Japan.
In summer, fresh greenery is easy on the eyes, and in autumn, fall foliage colors the park. In winter, the snow-covered scenery is also especially memorable. The changing views each season will likely leave you moved every time you visit.
