Shirahama Underwater Observation Tower (Coral Princess)

The world’s first underwater observation tower, it has been popular since opening in 1970 as one of Shirahama Town’s signature tourist attractions.
Walk down the stairs inside the tower to reach the observation room at a depth of Approx. 8 meters. Inside, 12 large round windows are installed, letting you soak in the charm of the underwater world through the glass.
Through the highly clear seawater, you can spot around 30 kinds of fish swimming gracefully. Sometimes you might even get a chance to observe an octopus or the “gangster of the sea,” the moray eel! Also, when sea conditions are good, you may be able to see all the way to the seafloor with a crystal-clear view, making it especially appealing for enjoying an extraordinary time that feels like underwater observation.
What’s more, from the top of the tower, a 360-degree ocean view awaits, with the horizon stretching out right in front of you. Take in the ocean beauty you can only find in Shirahama and make wonderful memories.
