A private resort with just 26 rooms, quietly nestled within a garden of Approx. 24,000 square meters at the foot of the Takagamine Sanzan mountains in Kita Ward, Kyoto City. Across the spacious grounds are a restaurant building, living building, spa building, four two-story accommodation buildings that blend into the forest, and a villa-style pavilion perched on higher ground overlooking the entire garden. Although it is within walking distance of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site Kinkaku-ji, stepping onto the property brings you into an extraordinary space wrapped in silence and nature. The architecture, by master architect Kerry Hill, reinterprets the traditions of a Japanese ryokan in a modern design, and each room is appointed with tatami, a tokonoma alcove, and a cypress bath.

At Aman Spa, which features natural hot spring water from nearby Aman Kyoto, guests can enjoy natural wellness experiences that soothe the mind, body, and spirit, including treatments using original oils made with Uji tea and Tanba black soybeans, as well as forest bathing walks, meditation, and yoga. For dining, there is Taka-an, where you can savor omakase kaiseki cuisine by the executive chef, and The Living Pavilion by Aman, which serves innovative dishes made with carefully selected ingredients from the Kyoto area.

The surrounding area is home to 17 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage temples, shrines, and castles, including Kinkaku-ji, Ryoan-ji, and Kamigamo Shrine, making it an ideal base for sightseeing in Kyoto.
