The museum for learning about railways including the history of the former Usui Line, which had been active for 104 years from 1893 to1997, and experience of the Electric railway operation.
Express Service 189 series “Asama” actually operated from 1961 to 1962 is open to the visitors in “the Symbol Square”. The special exhibition regarding “the Toge-Goe railway” (the train service of passing the peak of Usui Touge) is displayed in the Railways museum on the 2nd floor. This museum is the only attractive facility in Japan where you can experience EF-style Electric railway operation if you receive a lecture.
The historical trains which used to be active on service in Japan were renovated and displayed In the View Square, and some trains are available to open to the visitors.
You will be satisfied with riding vehicles in the park. “The Abt-kun” goes around the park and “Torokko train line” is made of the downline from Yokokawa to Karuizawa. Have a try at them.
