17END

A white sand beach that appears only at low tide, and a mecca for aviation fans.

Last update :

Known as a scenic spot on Shimoji Island, 17END is a popular beach with crystal-clear, beautiful waters. At low tide, a white sandbar appears far offshore, creating a dreamlike view of impossibly transparent sea. The shallow water is stunningly clear, turning turquoise farther out and forming a beautiful gradation.

The unusual name “17END” comes from aviation terminology. Since it is located directly behind Shimojishima Airport, one of its unique attractions is being able to watch planes take off and land up close. It is also known as a mecca for aviation fans, and if the timing is right, you may even catch an impressive takeoff scene (touch-and-go). In summer and on holidays, food trucks also set up near the parking lot, so you can enjoy a meal while taking in the beautiful ocean view.
At night, the atmosphere changes completely from daytime, and you can enjoy a star-filled sky.

This beautiful beach, known for its crystal-clear water, appears like a phantom beach only at low tide. Take in a spectacular view found only in Miyakojima.
