Myojinmaru Main Branch is an izakaya operated by Myojin Suisan, a company with the highest bonito catch in Japan. It is within walking distance of JR Kochi Station and Tosaden Horitsume Station. Kochi local cuisine and bonito dishes are served here.

The restaurant’s biggest specialty is using fresh bonito delivered directly from Myojin Suisan and straw-searing it right in front of guests. In the traditional straw-searing method, the surface of the bonito is grilled instantly over intense heat that reaches Approx. 1,000 degrees. The result is a dish with concentrated flavor and the distinctive smoky aroma of straw. The signature menu item is Warayaki Katsuo Shio Tataki, created by the current president, a former fisherman. This dish is widely known across Japan as a specialty that originated at Myojinmaru. The menu also features a wide selection of local dishes made with Kochi ingredients such as Tosa Jiro chicken, Tosa wagyu beef, and Chotaro shellfish.

The refined interior evokes a traditional Japanese restaurant. With over 90 seats in total, including raised table seating and relaxing private horigotatsu rooms, it offers a calm setting to enjoy local cuisine prepared with the expertise of authentic fishermen.
