Basho-an (Creative Wagashi Workshop)

Located in Takimi Koji, a retro-themed street that recreates the atmosphere of old Japan, this traditional Japanese sweets shop has been beloved for generations. Since its founding in 1868, Basho-an has continued to preserve its time-honored production methods.

The vibe inside is really quiet, with that classic old-school shop feel, but the desserts are actually pretty creative—not just the basics. The wagashi aren’t too sweet and the flavors are delicate, so you don’t get tired of them. Paired with a cup of hot tea, it’s perfect.

Great spot if you want to sit down, take your time, and just zone out for a bit.

Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine

Ketsumi-mikono-okami is enshrined here. The shrine was built during the era of Japan’s 10th emperor, Sujin. Designated as a world cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2004.

The center can be reached via an easy access from the Hirai Ramp on the Daini-Hanwa National Highway and is only a 40 minute drive from Kansai Airport.

A Japanese friend recommended this huge AEON MALL to me. It's packed with tons of shops and a must-visit supermarket. Some stores even offer tax-free shopping!

Mikimoto Pearl Island

In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing pearls on this island for the first time in the world. You can visit the Pearl Museum and Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, and watch demonstrations by women divers in the sea.

At Mikimoto Pearl Island, you can watch ama divers perform. It's a really unique experience—I highly recommend checking out this spot!

Oharai Machi, Okage Yokocho

In front of the Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu Shrine, there's a street called Oharai Machi that bustles with numerous worshippers every year. From the Edo Period to early Meiji Period, many people called Onshi lived here and performed Shinto dance and music for their worshippers (Oharai), thus, the name Oharai Machi is believed to have come about.

I went to Disneyland this time~ Because of the pandemic, the old FastPass system is gone for now. Now, you have to use the Disney Premier Access and Standby Pass, both of which you can buy through the official Disney app.

On the vast 43,500m² premises, a shopping mall, movie complex, theater, amusement park and two hotels cluster. Its symbol, a 180m-long canal, crosses along the center of the space lined with colorful buildings.
