This is a really nice hotel.
I heard that members of the royal family have stayed here before, and the whole place has a classy, elegant vibe. It’s even been used as a venue for shogi tournaments.
For breakfast, they serve hoto, a local Yamanashi specialty, which really adds a regional touch to your trip.
The Japanese garden is beautiful, especially with the autumn leaves—it’s so charming.
When we checked in, there happened to be a concert in the lobby. Apparently, they hold this event every Saturday night.

Matsumoto Castle
Matsumoto Castle was built between the years 1593 and 1594. It is one of the oldest of the still-standing “gojuu-rokkai” (five roofs, six stories) structures in Japan, and it has been registered as a national treasure.
They say this is the oldest of Japan's 12 original castles.
The black and white castle with the red bridge in front is such a striking contrast—really moving! 👍 -
