I’d heard the name Kokushi Muso for a long time, but never really knew its background. This time, I finally had the chance to step inside the brewery and see its brewing world with my own eyes. The aroma of sake filled the air, making me want to stop and take it all in.
Besides tasting seasonal limited-edition sake, there were all kinds of related items to shop for.
From sake ware to sake lees products, each one carried a distinct local character.
By the time I left, my hands were full of great finds.

Asahikawa Kitasaito Garden
Connected to Asahikawa Station, Asahikawa Kitasaito Garden is placed in a rare location - in the middle of a city. Passing the west concourse of the station and reaching the “Shopping Park” in the city, you can appreciate the grand Chubetsu River and the rich nature in the northern land.
Cleverly integrated behind Asahikawa Station and along the Chubetsu River, this place creates a green urban oasis with a modern design that stretches toward the city center. It’s a great spot for Asahikawa residents to exercise or take a walk, and it also gives short-term visitors a place to relax.
In winter, it is turned into a ski park and offers a simple skiing experience. -

JR Asahikawa Station
The city of Asahikawa is located in the center of Hokkaido. The JR Asahikawa Station is central to the east-west and north-south rail system in Hokkaido.
The area around Asahikawa Station is really convenient for independent travelers. Whether you want to slow down and take your time or enjoy a deeper cultural experience, it also works well as a bus transfer point for places like Furano, Biei, and Daisetsuzan Sounkyo.
There are lots of hotels near Asahikawa Station, and there’s also a shopping mall right next to it. -
