Drive about 1.5 hours north from Tokyo. In Utsunomiya-just 50 minutes from Tokyo Station by shinkansen-you’ll find a farm with a vast bamboo grove. Its lush greenery and quiet calm make it feel like you’ve stepped into a story. This one-of-a-kind, breathtaking bamboo forest is also frequently used as a filming location for movies and commercials. They have pickles, miso, and all kinds of local produce—lots of Karuizawa exclusives! The sauce selection is amazing, and even the onion and wasabi sauces are super tasty.
