The exhibition space isn’t very big—you can see everything in about an hour to an hour and a half. It’s in Minami-Machida, and there’s also an outlet nearby, so you can plan to visit both.

Arashiyama Yakatabune River Boat
An elegant riverboat experience along the upper Oi River, flowing beneath Togetsukyo Bridge. It began around 805 AD in the early Heian period as one of the pleasures enjoyed by aristocrats, and gradually became popular with the general public as well. Today, no reservation is required to hop on a shared boat, making it a classic part of sightseeing in Arashiyama.
If you take the boat in winter, make sure to bundle up like a sushi roll so you don’t freeze. And if there’s a light rain, sitting under the boat canopy has its own kind of romance.

Takaosan Takahashiya
Just a ways up from Keio Line Takaosanguchi Station towards Kiyotaki Cable Car Station sits Takahashiya, an ever-buzzing soba restaurant known to see long lines on weekends when hikers flock to the area.
Their signature dish is the cold soba with grated yam. The noodles are super springy, and the yam is so smooth it feels like eating ice cream. Mix it all up with the sauce, and every bite is super refreshing. After hiking, this cold noodle dish really hits the spot.
