Zamami Island
Just 50 minutes from Naha by high-speed boat! A southern paradise surrounded by the beautiful Kerama Blue sea.
One of the islands in the Kerama Islands, located Approx. 40 km west of Naha City in Okinawa Prefecture. Day trips from Okinawa Main Island are also possible, taking Approx. 2 hours by ferry via Aka Island from Tomari Port in Naha, or Approx. 50 minutes by high-speed boat, making it a great spot to casually enjoy a remote island escape.
The biggest draw of Zamami is its stunning sea, known as “Kerama Blue.” In addition to swimming at beaches with stretches of pure white coral sand, visitors can also enjoy a full range of marine activities in the crystal-clear water, including diving, sea kayaking, and SUP. Snorkeling, where you may even encounter sea turtles, is also popular, as is whale watching, where you can see humpback whales making dramatic jumps up close.
The island has a wide variety of restaurants and plenty of accommodations, including guesthouses and pensions. Thanks to its mild climate, you can also stay at campsites and cottages throughout the year. There are also four round trips a day on the village ferry route between Aka Island, which is connected by bridge to Geruma Island and Fukaji Island, and Zamami Island, so using Zamami as a base for island-hopping around the Kerama Islands is also recommended.
