The Matsukawa Pleasure Boat is a sightseeing cruise on the Matsukawa River. It's available all year except winter, and the cherry blossoms in spring are a huge hit with visitors!

This is a great place to enjoy some of Japan's most iconic folk songs every day. You can listen to Yasugibushi live and also catch performances of the traditional coin drum and dances. Definitely worth checking out!

This time I visited the Akita City Folk Performing Arts Heritage Center and the Former Kaneko Family Residence. I saw the Mist Hall showcasing Akita's traditional arts, and also explored the old merchant's house. They're right next to each other, so it's perfect for a short trip.
