It's usually a lively place, but it's gotten quieter because of COVID.
I really hope it can go back to how it used to be~

Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Hotel
A large resort hotel on the shores of Lake Shirakaba at an elevation of Approx. 4,600 feet. A new main building opened in 2023. “Natural Hot Spring Koten no Yu” features gender-separated indoor baths, “Kino Yu” and “Ishi no Yu” (swapped by schedule), as well as the mixed open-air bath “Kohan Konyoku Sora,” which guests use while wearing swimsuits or bathing clothes. Enjoy an infinity open-air bath that feels one with the lake, a scenic sauna with self löyly, and a cold bath filled with flowing underground water from Mt. Tateshina, along with spectacular lakeside views.
The room was very comfortable, but the buffet was a bit crowded. The hot springs were fantastic.
There’s also an amusement park nearby, so I’d recommend it for families traveling with kids. -

Dogashima Cave Excursion Boat
Dogashima Island is described as Matsushima in Izu for its beauty. The best spot to see is the national natural treasure, Tensodo Cave. If you really want to enjoy it, hop on the boat that leaves every 15-20 minutes.

Kabushima Shrine
Kabushima Island is one of the prominent nesting places of black-tailed gulls in Japan. Climbing up a flight of stone steps, you will find Kabushima Shrine, which was founded in 1269, standing on the top of the hill. During the Edo period, in the feudal domain of Hachinohe-han, the shrine had been worshiped enthusiastically by the successive feudal lords since the time of the first feudal lord.
After climbing the long stone steps, you’re greeted by a solemn and beautiful shrine.
The grounds are spacious, and you can enjoy views of both the city and the ocean—really pleasant scenery.
There’s free parking nearby and a small shop, which is great for sightseeing. Overall, a really nice experience. -
