An animal café that opened in 2024 just steps from Higashi Chaya District, a popular sightseeing spot in Kanazawa lined with traditional teahouse buildings.

Step inside this stylish café renovated from a traditional Japanese house, and you’ll find around 70 rare creatures from about 40 species, including slow lorises and Linnaeus’s two-toed sloths. Some animals, such as dogs, cats, and skunks, can even be touched, so you can enjoy a soothing time holding them or letting them sit on your lap.

During your stay, you must order at least one drink during the day, and one drink plus one food item at night. In the daytime, the café serves drinks and original sweets, while at night it offers alcohol as well as dishes made with unusual meats such as crocodile and kangaroo.

Photography is allowed inside the café, but flash is strictly prohibited. Loud voices and noises are also not allowed. Many of the animals are meant to be admired rather than touched. For the animals’ well-being, please enjoy your visit responsibly and with moderation.

The atmosphere inside is really unique, and all the animals are super cute. Being able to sip a drink while interacting with the little animals is so soothing. It’s a great spot for people who love taking photos or just love animals.
The overall interior design is also pretty distinctive, and before you know it, you’ve been there for quite a while.
That said, it can get crowded at certain times, and the more popular animals tend to have people gathered around them constantly. If you want to interact with them more comfortably, it’s probably better to go on a weekday.
Overall, it’s still definitely worth trying at least once, especially if it’s your first time at an animal café—it feels really fresh and fun.
