Established in 1701, this long-established ryokan has been welcoming travelers for over 300 years. Located in front of Yahiko Shrine at the foot of the mountain, it offers a convenient base for sightseeing.

One of the inn’s signature features is its open-air observation bath fed by natural hot spring water. From the tub, guests can enjoy a sweeping view of Mt. Yahiko. The mountain scenery changes beautifully with the seasons. The property also features a large public bath and a sauna. Another highlight is the wide variety of guest rooms, including Shishoka, a room with a private open-air bath, and the Roman-kan, designed in a retro Japanese-Western style inspired by Taisho-era romance. The interior design throughout the inn also incorporates nostalgic touches.

The cuisine makes generous use of ingredients from both the sea and mountains of Niigata Prefecture. Guests can enjoy kaiseki meals featuring fresh seafood landed from the Sea of Japan and local vegetables. Breakfast is served at the observation restaurant on the top floor.
